For this dear Chettan, rape is rape only in the old accepted form, apparently including complete intercourse. For him, what happened to the actress is only “technically” rape and hence simple and nothing that is fit to be terrifying for anyone who reads about her experience. I would have said I am surprised if I wasn’t from a society where I have heard of ministers and political leaders defending rape accused because the “theevratha” of rape was not up to their standards. This comment alone, read together with the many, many comments accusing the victim of orchestrating her own attack and even the video that came out of it, should tell us why we as a society have failed this brave woman.
